Who Should Attend

The PELP Summer Institute is designed for teams of eight participants, including the superintendent/CEO, and other district personnel from both the district-level and school-level leadership ranks. The PELP Project focuses upon U.S. large urban school districts, and teams are organized around a strategic problem of practice. Team composition is selected by the superintendent and can include a range of actors in the school district to include but not limited to senior cabinet leaders, principals, teacher leaders, union presidents, school board members, community liaisons, and instructional specialists.

Cost

$36,000 for a team of 8. The 2024 institute will be held on HBS campus. Districts are responsible for travel to and from Boston.

Testimonial

"The environment at PELP creates a unique and special forum for school district leaders. The most valuable elements of the program are the experiences with world-class faculty, time together as a district team, and time with other districts – away from the day-to-day demands of our district jobs. The program helped us define what success would look like and got us thinking about goals and strategy."  –  former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan (prior PELP participant as CEO of the Chicago Public Schools)
